Russia said today, Sunday, it hit military targets in the intense air attack it carried out on Ukraine on Saturday night, while Kiev authorities reported that 4 people were killed and dozens were injured, noting that the massive attack lasted 12 hours.
“The Russian forces launched a major blow last night … against institutions belonging to the Ukrainian military industrial complex,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
For his part, the coordinator of the secret work groups loyal to Russia in Nicolaiev County, Sergey Leipidv, said on Sunday that Russian forces launched a series of strikes targeting military sites in Kiev and its surroundings, which affected weapons warehouses and air defense systems.
Lebediv added that the strikes were carried out through successive waves of drones and missiles, each wave of between 10 to 20, according to the Russian news agency Sputnik.
Lebediv said that the strikes also included targets for air defense in the province of Dniprobrerovsk and the Odessa area.
In a related context, Lebediv reported that the Russian army targeted the main base of the Ukrainian Navy in the Ochkov region of Nicolaiev Province, noting that the strikes came in conjunction with attacks on supply points in Kirovujad.
Lebidiv explained that the naval base, in addition to warehouses and military training areas in Nicolaiev, was subjected to three concentrated attacks, stressing that the operation resulted in the destruction of strategic targets for the Ukrainian Navy.
Zellinski: a huge Russian attack
Earlier on Sunday, Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski announced on his Facebook page that Russia launched about 500 offensive aircraft and more than 40 missiles, including Kengal missiles, on Ukrainian cities, killing 4 people in Kiev, and wounding 40 other people across Ukraine.
“A huge Russian attack on Ukraine lasted for more than 12 hours, brutal strikes, deliberate and directed terrorism against ordinary cities. About 500 offensive aircraft and more than 40 missiles, including Kengal missiles,” said the Ukrainian National News Agency “Yokrinform.”
Zellinski added that the main targets of the attack were the city of Kiev, Kiev, the Zaburigia areas, Khamilinsky, Sumi and Odisa, noting that the Kiev Heart Institute building was damaged.
