I expect strong US sanctions imposing on Russia

Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski said on Saturday that he expects strong sanctions by the United States on Russia, one day after the European Union submitted its penalties on Moscow.

“I am grateful because many Ukrainian proposals have been taken into account in the European Union sanctions package,” Zellinski added.

He continued: “We are now expecting strong sanctions by the United States as well … Europe plays its role.”

Ukrainian President also revealed that he will meet US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly discussions in New York, which begins on Tuesday.

He explained that there will be many bilateral meetings, including a meeting with the American president.

He said that he is planning to discuss the security guarantees that Ukraine needs from its partners, in addition to discussing sanctions against Russia.

About 150 heads of state and governments in New York will meet on Tuesday to attend the public assembly discussions, the 80th of the United Nations.
