Zellinski and Putin
Ukrainian President Foludmir Zellinski refused, on Friday, the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit Moscow to negotiate a diplomatic settlement, referring to this suggestion for the first time in an interview with Martha Ratatiz, chief global affairs correspondent in the American “ABC News”, for the “This week” program.
“Putin) can come to Kiev. I cannot go to Moscow and my country is being bombed daily. I cannot go to the capital of this terrorist,” Zellinski said.
“Putin understands this.”
Zelinski and Rataiz toured and sat at the location of an American factory in western Ukraine, which was the target of a Russian missile attack recently.
The Ukrainian President has repeatedly affirmed that Putin is not seeking to meet him as he continued the war in Ukraine.
He said that Putin’s offer was aimed at “postponing the meeting”, stressing that he was ready to meet in any way.
Zellinski explained that Putin “is playing games with the United States.”
He added: “If someone does not want to meet during the war, he can of course suggest something that cannot be accepted by me or by others.”
Earlier, President Putin affirmed during the plenary session of the East Economic Forum, on Friday, his willingness to meet Zellinski at the highest level, saying: “If the Ukrainian leadership is serious in its desire to negotiate, let them come to Moscow, and we will guarantee them 100 percent.”
Putin stressed that Russia is ready to provide full security guarantees for Zelinski and members of the Ukrainian delegation if they decide to come to the Russian capital.
