The sales of the existing housing in the United States recorded a slight increase last month, in light of the suffering of high real estate financing interest rates and the high prices of housing despite the continued increase in the market supply.
The National Federation of US Real Estate Developments said in its monthly report issued on Monday that the sales of existing housing increased during May by 0.8% per month, after putting the seasonal variables in the account to reach 4.03 million units annually, while analysts expected sales equivalent to 3.95 million units annually, according to the Pact Set Set data.
On an annual basis, sales fell 0.7% during the past month.
Meanwhile, housing prices continued to record an annual height for the twenty -third month in a row, although the height continued to slow down. The average selling price of the housing unit in the United States during May increased by 1.3% annually to the equivalent of 422.8 thousand dollars, which is its highest level in this month of any year.
The buyers of the houses who are able to buy at the current prices and the high real estate financing benefit benefited from the noticeable increase in the supply of sale.
The National Federation of Real Estate Developers said that there are 1.54 million houses not sold at the end of last month, an increase of 6.2% compared to the previous month, while the number of these houses increased by 20.3% compared to May of last year.
Nevertheless, the number of houses is still less than the average number of homes offered for sale before the Function of the new Corona virus in 2020 and was about two million homes.
According to the current sale rates, the supply of housing at the end of last month is sufficient to meet the demand for 4.6 months, while the rate was 4.4 months during April and 3.8 months during May of last year.
