Trump: We will extend the Tikkuk liquidation deadline in the event of an agreement

“He will extend a final date on June 19 to Chinese -based Bite Dance to liquidate the American assets of the Tek Tok application, if no agreement is reached by that day,” said US President Donald Trump.

170 million Americans use the application of short video clips.

In an interview with NBC News on Friday and broadcast on the network on Sunday, Trump said: “I would like to see the completion of the agreement, I lovely love the application, after helping to persuade young voters to vote in the presidential elections.”

The American president emphasized that the Chinese application is very interesting, but it will have protection.

Trump has previously postponed the application of a ban imposed by Congress on “Tek Tok” twice. The ban was to enter into force in January.

An agreement is underway to separate Tek Tok operations in the United States and transfer it to a new company that is based there, but this agreement is disrupted after China rejected it after Trump announced the imposition of high customs duties on Chinese goods.

Democratic members of the Senate says that Trump does not have a legal authority that entitles him to extend the deadline, and confirm that the deal that was under study was not fulfilling legal requirements.

Trump said in the interview that China was keen to reach an agreement, and attributed this to the Chinese economy being affected by the 145% customs duties on Chinese commodities, and stressed that it will not cancel the customs duties in order to push Beijing to negotiate, but he indicated that it could eventually be reduced in a broader agreement, adding: “At some point, I will reduce the fees or unless we will never be able to deal with them, and they want strongly to deal with us.”

It is reported that there was a constant controversy between the United States government and the Tik Talk application, which is owned by the Chinese company bye Dance. The main reason behind the dispute is related to the concerns of national security and privacy, as the US government fears that the Chinese government will be able to access the personal data of American users via Tenek.

During the first period of Donald Trump, the US administration tried to ban Tik Talk in the United States unless US operations were sold to an American entity. However, attempts faced legal challenges and judicial rulings, the ban was not fully implemented, and these pressures returned again after Trump returned to the White House.
