The US Energy Minister visits the first petroleum well in Saudi Arabia

US Energy Minister Chris Wright visited Bir Dammam No. (1), the first petroleum well in Saudi Arabia, accompanied by Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, according to what the Ministry of Energy announced through its account on the x platform.

The well was dug by the Arab American Oil Company (Saudi Aramco later), in 1935 and formed the starting point for the economic transformation and the beginning of the oil industry in the Kingdom.

This comes during an official visit by the American minister to Saudi Arabia, during which he discussed opportunities for cooperation in the fields of energy research, exchanging experiences and enhancing joint research work.

During the visit, Wright was briefed on the role of the center in the fields of energy policies research and transformations, climate change, sustainable transport and consulting services.

This is in addition to developing analytical models and tools that contribute to finding solutions to the current challenges in the energy sector.

This visit came as part of a broader tour of two weeks in 3 Gulf countries and also includes Qatar and the UAE, which will contribute to paving the way for President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to the region.
