“Mita” trains its models for artificial intelligence on the data of its European users

The giant American “Mita” group announced that all the general content of European users on its platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook, will be available to train its models working in obstetric artificial intelligence technology.

The company said in a statement that the European users of the various platforms of the group will receive a notice in the coming days that notify them with this new policy, with a link to a model that allows them to refuse to participate.

“Meta” explained that “individuals residing in the European Union who use our platforms can choose not to use their data for training purposes.”

In concrete, the artificial intelligence programs of the company “Mita” will become able to train on publications and general comments for users (such as explanations attached to the pictures published on Instagram), in addition to requests and questions sent to “Meta Ai”, the automatic conversation program available since the end of March in the European Union.

The giant group in the field of social media confirmed that this change will not affect people under the age of 18, nor on private messages between adult users “with their friends and families.”

The launch of the “Mita AI” in the European Union is delayed for more than a year due to European bases that govern new technologies, such as the European General Data Protection System (GDPR), digital market laws and artificial intelligence.

“Mita” is based on a decision issued by the European Data Protection Council, which was considered in December that the “legitimate interest” could form a legal basis for the use of personal data to develop and publish artificial intelligence models in the European Union.
