Global support for research and innovation in Islamic economics – business world
Al-Baraka Forum for Islamic Economy, during the opening ceremony of the forty-fifth session of the Al-Baraka symposium under the auspices and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz- Governor of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah Region, announced the launch of the first session of the “Saleh Kamel Award for Islamic Economy” (2025-2026), which aims to enhance scientific research and innovation in the fields of Islamic economy and the jurisprudence of financial transactions, and to commemorate the legacy of the pioneering businessman Sheikh Saleh Abdullah Kamel- may God have mercy on him- One of the pioneers and founders of the modern Islamic banking industry.
The award is one of the largest specialized awards in this field in the world, with a total prizes of one million Saudi riyals, granted in four tracks covering the best university theses (Master and PhD) and the best scientific research in the Islamic economy and financial jurisprudence.
The prize is supervised by a Board of Trustees, which includes a group of prominent academic, legitimacy and economic leaders, in addition to a specialized scientific committee to choose the annual issues and full supervision of the arbitration stages according to discreet academic standards.
During the ceremony, the topics of the first session of the award were announced as follows:
• The first field – Islamic economics: “The future of the Islamic financial industry in the era of digitization: challenges, risks and prospects – an overseer analytical study until 2050.”
• The second field – Jurisprudence of the Islamic Economy: “The impact of the purposes on the jurisprudence on the applied images of modern financial transactions.”
The award is an annual station to motivate young and creative researchers around the Islamic world, in order to provide innovative solutions that support the sustainability of the Islamic economy and enhance its global presence in light of the accelerating transformations.
